Epson is a global technology leader dedicated to driving innovations and exceeding customer expectations in printing, visual communications, quality of life, and manufacturing. 

THE PROJECT 

The company’s reporting mechanisms (especially concerning sales) strongly needed to be renewed and updated for better functionality and accessibility, within a scheme to consolidate and harmonize Epson Europe’s ERP and CRM systems.

The existing solution used the SAP BI module, lacking some information usually found in CRMs, blocking a complete vision of customers’ profiles.

We opted for creating a new solution to integrate data from SAP BI and Microsoft Dynamics CRM, providing Epson Europe with some much-needed tools, allowing to blend past records and new ones.

The second phase consisted of improving the original reporting mechanism, giving users more freedom to access data through analytic dashboards and a Mobile BI solution.

THE PROCESS

The agile approach used in the development of the BI solution resulted in remarkable success. High interaction with key users, frequent release cycles, automatic unit and regression test systems, and a complete framework for automation in the development of Data Warehouse, bundled with our Adaptive BI methodology, allowed us to accomplish all goals.

The vast amount of data (more than 1.2 billion rows) and the complexity of integrating data between SAP and Microsoft Dynamics made this project an inspiring challenge, further complicated by modifying functional requisites and technical specs.

The resulting combined monitoring system and the dashboard structure output a unified view with integrated data from the ERP system for sales and the Microsoft CRM.

Thanks to the consolidation of both technologies, the company’s IT structure benefitted from a substantial simplification of the general architecture. 

Epson Europe’s business intelligence area was also notably improved. With a single, unified recipient for all data, where one can find everything and quickly verify quality and correctness, users can now work with a more comprehensive and updated source of intelligence.
